It's known that driving practices are both attitudinal and habitual in nature.  Therefore, it is important to understand and learn the correct skills and attitudes necessary to become a Defensive Driver.  Additionally, it's recognized that knowledge and understanding alone are not sufficient to make one a competent driver.  Many years of experience driving in a wide variety of conditions and roadways is necessary in order to become a safe and confident driver.

The instructional sequence generally proceeds along the following lines:

• Basic Vehicle Control
• Urban Driving
• Open Road
• Freeway
• Parking

After I retired from teaching I opened the Sonoran Driving School in November of 2006. During my high school career I taught a large number students how to drive at Catalina, Baboquivari, and Sabino High Schools.  Not only was teaching behind-the-wheel fun and interesting, it allowed me a chance to get to know the students outside of the classroom.  I decided to open a professional driving school as I liked the excitement and fast pace.

I've discovered that teaching people how to drive is easy as the students are highly motivated to learn.   Students know that having a driver's license is the key to independence and freedom.  I like to think  that my hundreds of successful students are now enjoying greater opportunities and able to explore life in new directions.
