It's known that driving practices are both attitudinal and habitual in nature.  Therefore, it is important to understand and learn the correct skills and attitudes necessary to become a Defensive Driver.  Additionally, it's recognized that knowledge and understanding alone are not sufficient to make one a competent driver.  Many years of experience driving in a wide variety of conditions and roadways is necessary in order to become a safe and confident driver.

The instructional sequence generally proceeds along the following lines:

  • Basic Vehicle Control
  • Urban Driving
  • Open Road
  • Freeway
  • Parking

Instruction begins in a quite neighborhood where the driver learns Basic Vehicle Control.  This consists of the following:  

  • Steering Techniques
  • Operating Brake/Gas/Signal Controls
  • Right Turns
  • Left Turns
  • U-Turns

Once the student has gained control of the vehicle we drive into progressively more difficult traffic situations.  It is very important to be able to read the entire driving environment. Some additional concepts covered during instruction: 

  • Following Distance
  • Space Cushion
  • Blind Spot
  • Decisive Moment
  • Scanning 
  • 4/3/2 Way Stop Signs
  • Merging and Lane Changes
  • Crosswalk Signal
  • Pedestrians and Bicyclists
  • Aggressive/Impaired Drivers
  • School and Construction Zones
  • Emergency Vehicles
  • Move Over Law
  • Stupid Motorist Law
  • Dust Storms 

Terms and Conditions:


Payment is required before driving begins. Payment may be made at the time of student pick up. Cash, checks or MasterCard, VISA, DISCOVER and AMERICAN EXPRESS credit cards are accepted. 

Students may be picked up and dropped off at home, school, work, or other places of your choice.


A valid license or permit must be in the possession of the driver at the time driving begins.  All license/permit restrictions must be obeyed.


A $35.00 fee is assessed if an appointment is cancelled without a 24 hour notice.


24 Hour notice is required for cancellation of all services and a return of payment.  A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from the payment before return of payment. The return payment will be made within three (3) business days from the date of cancellation notification.


A $25.00 processing fee will be assessed for each check returned for insufficient funds.


All service agreements are valid for one hundred and twenty (120) days beginning with the date of the first drive.  A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from the payment before return of payment.  The return payment will be made within three (3) business days from the voided date.
